The year-round sun and warm temperatures of Florida’s coastal towns, plus the sand, sun, water, and fun they provide make them an ideal destination for your getaway any time of year, but especially during the summer months. There are several coastal towns to choose from, but for families with children who are also surf buffs or space buffs, a visit to Cocoa Beach on Florida’s “Space Coast” is a must this summer. It’s the perfect mix of all that sand, sun, water, and fun everyone craves while also being close to Cape Canaveral, and even Orlando. There are plenty of activities in Cocoa Beach that are fun for kids of all ages!
Just about every kid dreams of one day going to space. If there’s a kid or kid-at-heart with that dream, one Space Coast activity that should be at the top of your itinerary is a visit to the center. Wander off into the various “Mission Zones” where activities, attractions, and tours are grouped by chronological era, creating a detailed picture of humans in space. For an unforgettable experience, Dine with an Astronaut to hear stories about their journey to space and enjoy a chef-prepared buffet meal with them. If you’d like to experience what they did, the Astronaut Training Experience allows guests to perform a spacewalk using immersive microgravity simulation technology or participate in a launch of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket. Tickets are available at the gate or online.
The kids may need to burn off some extra energy they didn’t get out at the beach. Golf N Gator boasts two 18-hole mini golf courses along with an animal encounter where you’ll see a variety of alligators and reptiles, while the teens and other adults will want to gear up for the Beachside Grand Prix: a multi-level go-kart experience there. For a more beachy experience without the reptiles, Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf also boasts two 18-hole mini-golf courses. After the round, sample craft beers at the craft beer bar, and treat the kids to hand-made ice cream!
Take your skills to the next level or learn a fun new sport. Learn from some of the best surf instructors in the state, who will have you going from land lessons and getting familiar with the board to catching your first wave in no time. Children as young as five-years-old are invited to learn to “hang 10,” and when everyone’s ready to catch a wave on their own, many surf schools offer rentals outside of class.
It’s in the name – Cocoa Beach! You came for the beach, so make sure you spend plenty of time there. Swim, sunbathe, take the kids on walk or run for some family exercise, or spread out a blanket and plant an umbrella for a beach picnic with the waves crashing in the background. Get an adrenaline boost, and add some excitement with parasailing, snorkeling, or SCUBA diving.
The store is home to the Museum of Dinosaurs & Ancient Cultures and is the gift store associated with the museum. The year-round sun and warm temperatures of Florida’s coastal towns make them an ideal destination for your getaway, no matter what time of year you come. There are several coastal towns to choose from, but surf buffs and space buffs will want to set their sights on Cocoa Beach on Florida’s “Space Coast.” It’s the perfect mix of sand, sun, water, and fun that’s close to Cape Canaveral and even Orlando. There are plenty of things to do and see, right in the surrounding area as well as within a one-hour drive or less. But even beautiful beach towns can get gloomy from time to time. When the rain and gloom hit and spoil your outdoor or beach plans, there are still many Cocoa Beach activities and attractions that can get you out and explore, while also staying warm and dry.
Formerly the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum, the Florida Surf Museum was founded in 1999 in a small space barely big enough to turn a longboard around! It grew with the help of local volunteers who donated surf magazines, pictures, trophies, and other memorabilia you can still see today at its location at the Ron Jon Surf Shop watersports building. Check out their website and plan your stay around one of the many events it hosts, including surf contests held in the waters off Cocoa Beach.
You came to Cocoa Beach to escape the stress of everyday life, but now you need to escape the rain. Come inside and enjoy one of the country’s most popular indoor activities – rain or shine – and conquer an escape room at Escape Cocoa Beach. Each themed room has a difficulty level. Choose your comfort level or favorite topic, including Bank Heist, Rocket Science, Jail Break, and others.
There are several day spas throughout the Cocoa Beach area. When your day for a relaxing sunbathing and swimming session at the beach turns gloomy, relax your cares away with a treatment like a mani/pedi, facial, body scrub or wrap, and more. You’ll end the day completely relaxed and recharged, and ready for outdoor fun and adventure after the rain clears.
There are plenty of things to do and see during your Cocoa Beach vacation. Many of the Cocoa Beach activities and attractions you visit will have an opportunity to pick up a fun souvenir, but in case you want a little more than a gift shop memento, there is a myriad of boutiques, stores, as well as the Merritt Square Mall where you can browse and stay out of the rain while scoring a unique find to take home.
The rainy weather outside your door is just a slight obstacle to your rental car and plenty of indoor Cocoa Beach fun. Take a rainy day to see one of the newest releases at Cobb Theatre Merritt Square on nearby Merritt Island. Current showings include Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Fabelmans, Babylon, and Avatar: The Way of Water, to name a few.

The rainy weather outside your door may be reason enough to stay in. Don’t worry about packing up the rental car and trying to find a parking spot at your destination or worrying about not having an umbrella. There is plenty to do right at your rental. Entertainment centers have large TVs and all the electronics for a movie night, and many homes have a selection of board games, toys, books, and magazines to while away the time while the rain falls.
If you’re looking for fun and activities to occupy yourself on a rainy day, Cocoa Beach has plenty of places to go. You could also watch the rain pattern through the windows of your vacation rental provided by Stay in Cocoa Beach. From a cozy one-bedroom all the way up to a spacious five-bedroom for a larger family or group looking for plenty of Cocoa Beach and Space Coast action. Our kitchens come fully equipped with everything you’ll need to make a delicious home-cooked meal. Not all Christmas vacations have to be spent somewhere at a destination that is covered in snow. Some families want to escape the cold and use their vacation time somewhere warmer, a place where they can still visit a beach and relax. If this kind of destination sounds like you, look no further than Cocoa Beach for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Cocoa Beach is one of Florida’s top destinations with thrilling attractions to visit and some unique holiday events to enjoy. Take a look at how you can spend your holiday season with us in Cocoa Beach:
Start off your holiday season with a stop by the Cocoa Beach Winterfest taking place Saturday December 4th. This local festival is perfect for all ages as it features a variety of activities that even the kids will enjoy. Come see the “snow” blow in as it creates a mini winter wonderland. Santa will be stopping by to hear from the kids about all the toys they want for Christmas. Live music, crafts, and food vendors will also be on hand to make this an all-day event. Cocoa Beach Winterfest runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with the Christmas Parade starting at 2:00 PM that will run through downtown. This event is completely free to attend.
Another exciting parade that you can visit during your stay in Cocoa Beach is the Holiday Boat Parade. This will be the 2nd year of this new event where a variety of boats will parade with the water decorated in their best holiday lights and décor. This is another completely free event where you can show up and enjoy the entertainment. The Holiday Boat Parade is taking place at our direct neighbors in Cocoa Village with the best views found at the Riverfront. This event will take place on Friday December 10th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
One of the best parts of Cocoa Beach is that our climate is always mild, meaning you can enjoy water activities during the colder parts of the year. Each year, Cocoa Beach surfers get together on Christmas Eve decked out in their Santa costumes for a fun event. This event typically brings hundreds of surfers dressed up for the part as they hit the waves out in the water. Come enjoy the show from the beach or join in on the fun yourself if you are an avid surfer. The show will start at 8:00 AM on December 24th in front of Coconuts on Cocoa Beach.
If surfing Santas was not enough holiday fun, you can also see Skydiving Santas take to the sky on December 12th. Air Sports Parachute Team gets together each year to have a thrilling skydiving show on Cocoa Beach. As you can tell, the community loves to engage in outdoor sports, and this is just one of the many available during the holidays. Come see these skydiving Santas on December 12th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier.
You can also explore Cocoa Beach Pier, where the Skydiving Santas event will take place, during your free time during your stay. The Pier is one of the area’s biggest attractions and features a variety of shops and restaurants. You will be able to find all kinds of unique gifts to take back home to friends and family. Live music is often on hand especially during the weekends. You will find the pier to also be in the holiday spirit with decorations and Christmas theme music.
If your family loves all things space, make sure to take them to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. This nearby attraction is where many of the rocket and shuttle launches have taken place at. Guests will be able to learn all about moon landings and previous space missions. You can even see a live rocket launch if your visit happens to overlap with a scheduled takeoff. This is the perfect gift to those who wish to be a future astronaut!
If you want some quiet time with the family, make sure to stop by Lori Wilson Park. This serene coastline park features plenty of grassy areas perfect for picnics along with three pavilions. The playground and volleyball court can keep the kids entertained as you relax with the peaceful ocean views. All beach parks remain open during the winter season.

When you visit some place that is tropical in the winter, you will notice that the weather is often still beautiful. The same can be said for Cocoa Beach right here on the coast of Florida. When it comes to Florida activities, most visitors will say that golfing is what they look forward to the most. Florida is known for having some beautiful golf courses, and the great year-round weather makes it easy to stay out longer during the day to play. There are a variety of Cocoa Beach golf courses you can hit up during your winter stay. Here are some of our favorites:
Perhaps the easiest place to remember where to golf at in Cocoa Beach is Cocoa Beach Country Club. This nearby club is a local favorite, as it is extremely easy to reach. The courses are always in shape and look great year-round. Cocoa Beach Country Club features a total of 27 holes, making it one of the more unique courses that gives you plenty of options. The three different routes let you play a different round of 9-hole golf for every visit you make. Since Cocoa Beach Country Club is a public facility, you do not need a membership to play here. This makes the golf course a little busier than other courses nearby, so make sure to plan ahead during your visit. There are also 23 lakes found on the property along with holes found just off Banana River. This local golf course is open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
If you are looking for a golf course that features a variety of wetlands and water hazards, look no further than The Savannahs Golf Course. Due to these hazards, The Savannahs Golf Course is known to be one of the more challenging courses in the area. This is perfect spot for you to practice your accuracy and strategy. It is just minutes away from most of our vacation rentals in Cocoa Beach, making it easy to reach. The winter season is less busy than during the summer season. The Savannahs Golf Course is open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
You will find some additional fun and excitement when you play your round of golf at Manatee Cove Golf Course. This nearby public course features 18 holes for a par 72 game. What makes Manatee Cove Golf Course stick out among all the other golf courses is the driving range, onsite lessons, and waterside tiki bar where you can grab a cocktail. The course is technically located on Patrick Space Force Base but is completely open to the public to play. All equipment, including clubs and balls, are provided during your time at Manatee Cove. Stop by during the hours of 6:15 AM to 6:00 PM every day of the week.
While a full round of golf is always a welcome addition to any vacation getaway, it can be a little difficult for young children to get in on the fun. Instead, take them to Lighthouse Cove Mini Golf that is open throughout the winter season. This mini golf attraction is a local favorite and features mini golf courses that provide a nautical theme with lighthouses, waterfalls, and bridges as your hazards. There are two full 18-hole courses, each with their own sides of fun and excitement. While you are playing your round of mini golf, you can place an order for food and drinks (including adult beverages such as beer and wine) to be delivered to where you are on the mini golf course. Their 3 Scoops Ice Cream Parlor is known for having some of the best ice cream in all of Cocoa Beach. Try out one of their specialty milkshakes or grab a scoop of one of their 24 different flavors of ice cream. Lighthouse Cove Mini Golf is open daily from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM for all kinds of mini golf fun!
As you can see, there is a variety of different golf activities waiting for you here in Cocoa Beach. Let our vacation rentals keep you close to each of these courses that are open year-round. Most courses offer all the gear you need, but you can call ahead just to make sure. Reserve your next vacation rental with us today in Cocoa Beach!
